PageMaker 6.5 or 6.51 to 6.52 Update -- English, PageMaker , adobe PageMaker

PageMaker 6.5 or 6.51 to 6.52 Update -- English

This update modifies an existing installation of PageMaker 6.5 or 6.51 for Windows 95 or NT to fix a number of problems that were discovered after the 6.5 and 6.51 products were released. After running this update, PageMaker will appear as version 6.52. The updater works with the following language versions of PageMaker 6.5 or 6.51: Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

TEXT FRAME IMPROVEMENT IN PAGEMAKER 6.52
To thread a new frame to the last frame you created, press Ctrl as you draw the new frame. This lets you quickly create a series of threaded frames. This technique does not work with polygon frames created by clicking vertices.

MASTER PAGE FIXES
Large EPS graphics on a master page no longer decrease the speed of text composition on pages to which the master was applied.

All images on all multiple master pages are retained on conversion from PageMaker 6.0 to PageMaker 6.52. Previously, certain image types were not being converted on certain master pages.

PRINTING AND PDF EXPORT FIXES
When printing with the "Manage Composites on Printer" option selected in the CMS Preferences dialog box, or exporting to PDF with the CIE output color model selected, PageMaker generated a "rangecheck" PostScript error. PageMaker 6.52 no longer generates the error under these conditions.

When trapping tints created in the Color Options dialog box, the percentage of color applied to the "spread" color could be inaccurate. PageMaker 6.52 applies the correct tint percentage.

PageMaker no longer causes a kernel error when printing publications with PostScript fonts that have headers larger than 8k.

OTHER FIXES
Using the Grid Manager under certain conditions could result in an inability to turn pages. PageMaker 6.52 resolves this problem.

PageMaker no longer displays recomposition problems upon page change after editing text in frames threaded across multiple pages.

Making certain changes to hyperlinks immediately before saving the publication to a different name or location could result in the newly created publication not having those changes. This problem has been fixed.

PageMaker could lose track of hyperlink information when a drag-and-drop operation between two publications became interrupted. With version 6.52, interrupted drag-and-drop operations no longer interfere with hyperlink handling.

All European language versions of PageMaker now launch for Windows NT users when installed by an NT administrator.

Installation Instructions

After downloading a ".exe" file in Windows, double-click on the ".exe" file to access the file's contents.

Need help with downloading? See our Downloading Help documents.

1. Quit all applications and turn off virus-detection and screen-saver software.
2. Double-click the Pm652.exe file.
3. Select the language you want to appear in the updater windows and dialog boxes, then click Next. Note that although the updater windows and dialog boxes will only appear in English, French, or German, the updater will work with all the language versions of PageMaker 6.5 or 6.51 listed above.
4. Select the region where you are located to determine which language the updater uses for its license agreement, then click Next.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions until the updater notifies you that PageMaker has been updated.
6. Click OK to exit the updater.

Additional notes

The updater updates PageMaker and installs a PM652.wri file in the PM65 folder that explains the problems it resolves. The update process replaces the PageMaker application itself and the Vamp.dll file, but it does not update or otherwise modify component files such as filters or plug-ins.

After you install the updater, when you right-click the Pm65.exe file in the PM65 folder, then choose Properties from the pop-up menu, and then click the Version tab In the Properties window, the File Version field will read "6.52."
